The Virginia Housing Alliance (VHA) is inviting organizations to host AmeriCorps NCCC members in communities to help accomplish the goal of ending chronic homelessness in Virginia! Organizations have the opportunity to apply for a short-term team that will help the community with outreach and engagement with the chronically homeless population. This process is relatively easy and we will be here every step of the way. Last year VHA helped host two AmeriCorps NCCC teams in the Hampton area (read more on their successes below) that assisted the community in functionally ending veteran homelessness. These teams will serve for six weeks, from mid-August to mid October 2016. Examples of what they can do
Assist Outreach Workers and Case Managers
Administer assessment surveys to individuals experiencing homelessness
Data Entry for HMIS and/or By-Name Lists
Physical restoration of supportive housing projects
For more information please see the our NCCC Project Description. Interested organizations should contact Tommy Joe Bednar at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. The application and work plan is due by COB Friday, April 8.
