VISTA Positions Available Across State!

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families and individuals living in poverty? There are new opportunities to work in a position as an AmeriCorps VISTA in areas all across the Commonwealth!

The Virginia Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) office has established a new partnership with AmeriCorps VISTA to increase the capacity of Virginia's Community Action Agencies. The Virginia CSBG Office will be the intermediary, and sponsor 7 AmeriCorps VISTA members, who will be placed in communities across Virginia. For the first year of this program VISTAs will be placed at:

The VISTAs will be working on one or more of the following objectives with their assigned agency:

  • Develop a Comprehensive Needs Assessment focused on solutions to alleviate poverty in the agencies service area.

  • Develop a Fund Development Plan/Marketing Plan to ensure program sustainability.

  • Develop a Volunteer Recruitment and Management System.

  • Program Development/Performance Measurement.

The agencies above are currently recruiting VISTA members! The deadline for applications is August 5, 2016. VISTA Members will begin serving on August 22, 2016. AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve. AmeriCorps VISTA is open to all U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent resident aliens age 18 and older. Members receive a living allowance, limited health benefit options, childcare, if needed, and other benefits. After successful completion of a term of service, members can choose to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend.
