President’s Volunteer Service Award

Carroll County Public Schools Lift Up! AmeriCorps member Makayla Haynes was recently awarded a President's Volunteer Service Award at a special ceremony in Abingdon. Makayla, who is a second year AmeriCorps member, received a Bronze Award to recognize her volunteer service last summer through Rooftop of Virginia. She assisted with the two-week SPARK Teen Camp that reached out to teens in the Carroll, Grayson, Galax City area who were transitioning between middle school and high school. The President's Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime. The Bronze Award honors 100-249 service hours over a 12-month period.
