AmeriCorps & National Service
What is AmeriCorps?

AmeriCorps & National Service is often described as the "domestic Peace Corps." A network of service programs offers the opportunity for 70,000+ Americans to serve and meet community needs. Members serve with nonprofits, public agencies, and community organizations.

Since 1994, 13,000+ Virginia residents have served 20+ million hours and qualified for Education Awards totaling $41.1 million!

In return, organizations serve these members by creating jobs and providing pathways to opportunity for young people entering the workforce. Thousands of young adults get the job experience they need from their intensive service positions where they learn valuable work skills, earn money for education, and develop an appreciation for citizenship.
