AmeriCorps State Application Process

The grant application process for 2018-19 Virginia AmeriCorps State Funding has ended. The Virginia Department of Social Services, Office on Volunteerism and Community Services (which serves as the Virginia Service Commission for the Commonwealth of Virginia), accepts responses to the Request for Proposals for the AmeriCorps State Formula program at the beginning of each calendar year. The process will begin again in January 2019. Recent Funding Opportunities

2018-19 Targeted AmeriCorps Funding Opportunity - Education & Economic Opportunity

The Virginia Service Commission (VSC) released a special targeted AmeriCorps Request for Applications focusing exclusively on activities related to programs providing direct services in their communities addressing the Virginia priority of Volunteer Recruitment and Utilization, AND address one of the following two funding priorities:  Education and Economic Opportunity. Applicants pursuing education-related AmeriCorps programming were required to replicate or expand evidence-based out-of-school time models for children and youth through the 12th grade. Applicants pursuing economic opportunity-related AmeriCorps programming were required to replicate or expand workforce development models that would result in individuals receiving industry recognized certifications in high-demand fields and/or placement in high demand jobs.  VSC also considered programming that provided more basic job skills training, but a strong preference (reflected in the review process) was for industry recognized certifications and/or employment in high demand jobs.

 

2018-19 Targeted AmeriCorps Funding Opportunity - Drug/Opioid Use Prevention, Child Wellness, and Infrastructure

The Virginia Service Commission released a special targeted AmeriCorps Request for Applications focused exclusively on activities related to the following: reducing and/or preventing prescription drug and opioid use; child wellness related to reducing or preventing child abuse, improving outcomes for child victims of abuse, and improving outcomes for foster youth, including youth aging out of foster care; or to improve or support improvement of physical infrastructure including but not limited to bridges, dams, inland waterways, public parks, and schools. 

 

2018-19 AmeriCorps State Formula Grants

The grant application process for 2018-19 Virginia AmeriCorps State Formula Funding has ended. To be considered for Formula funding, a Legal Applicant Organization must have met all eligibility criteria as outlined in the Eligibility Information section of the RFP. 

 

2018-19 AmeriCorps State Competitive Grants

The grant application process for 2018-19 Virginia AmeriCorps State Competitive Funding has ended. To be considered for Competitive funding, a Legal Applicant Organization must have met all eligibility criteria as outlined in the Eligibility Information section of the RFP below. An applicant that is being considered for Competitive funding will also be considered for Formula funding if they are unsuccessful in the National competition for Competitive funding.
