National Service Awards
AmeriCorps and Senior Corps members serving in Virginia who have performed outstanding service to their communities are honored annually at the Virginia Volunteerism and Service Conference. The second annual Virginia National Service Awards were presented in May 2018 at the Volunteerism Conference and honored six amazing winners who were nominated by their organization's program directors/sponsors.
The 2018 Awards were presented in the following categories:
- AmeriCorps State (Robert E. Wone Award for Exemplary Service)
- AmeriCorps VISTA
- Senior Corps (Foster Grandparents)
- Senior Corps (RSVP)
- Senior Corps (Senior Companions)
- National Service Alum
Upcoming National Service Member Nominees
Nominating organizations (for the categories of AmeriCorps State, AmeriCorps VISTA, Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion, or and RSVP) MUST be sponsor organizations for the programs and not individual service sites. The nomination process will begin next year in January. Stay tuned!
Upcoming National Service Alum Nominees
Nominees for this award can have served as a National Service member anywhere in the U.S. and do not have to have served within the Commonwealth. The nominees, however, must currently reside in Virginia. Nominators may be any organization who has served as a previous sponsoring organization or represents the nominee's current employer. The nomination process will begin next year in January. Stay tuned!
These awards are presented by the Virginia Service Foundation and the Governor's Advisory Board on Service and Volunteerism. The winners were recognized at a special awards luncheon at the Virginia Volunteerism and Service Conference in Richmond, May 21, 2018. Read about this year's winners!
